Overland trail maps, 1846-1851.

Davidson drew the maps on an eastward journey along the Platte River to St. Joseph in 1846. The maps show the location of the road, changes in the route, the country, location of water and fuel, and the 1846 and 1845 camps. Accompanying the maps are notes on his marriage, pencil sketches of Chimney Rock and Castle Rock, and attestations as to the accuracy of the maps by S. Eikenburg, J. B. Holliday, Henry Williamson, and J. A. Hunt.
